LUBA PEOPLE
Crafted by Artisans belonging to the Luba tribe situated in what used to be Zaire but now DRC. Crafted from a single tree trunk, attention to detail is key in the production of each stool. Many Luba stools feature a figure or two (men or women) in a kneeling or sitting position with a bearing weight posture. Many of the stools are seen as a symbol of leadership within a dynasty of kings or household. Those feature a female body are believed to be a spiritual receptacle supporting divine kingship.
